Maybe you are a descendent of Vikings, maybe you love the TV show, or maybe you’ve just always been drawn to the Viking culture, way of life and beliefs. In any case, a Norse Viking wedding can be absolutely stunning and it’s a theme you don’t see every day. Check out some of our favorite Viking wedding theme ideas for inspiration.
Viking Wedding Hair
For a Viking bide, braids are an absolute must! There are so many different braid hairstyles that it’s easy to find something perfect for you. Go with a beautiful, wild and flowing braided look or choose a sleek braided updo.
The Dress
Traditional Viking brides certainly didn’t wear white, unless their best dress was white. They also typically wore tur cloaks and headdresses. There aren’t any hard and fast rules you’ll need to follow these days unless you want to be 10% authentic. A dramatic gown will work; look for a flowing, gorgeous one with ruffles, peasant sleeves or plenty of layers.
A Viking themed wedding in the winter is absolutely perfect, because it gives you a great chance to wear a faux fur cowl or cloak that will work very well with the theme.
The Invitation
When thinking of ordering invitations for a Viking wedding, many brides might become overwhelmed. What in the world would work and fit the theme? We love this Celtic invitation this couple chose for their Viking ceremony!
The “Send Off”
Have a fun and exciting send off with your wedding guests by having them create a Viking honor guard. You and your handsome Viking husband will look amazing in wedding photos walking under the upraised swords of your closest friends and family members.
Extras
Of course, no Viking wedding would be complete without matching drinking horns for the bride and groom.
A couple of Viking hats and maybe even a custom-created Viking shield are also great additions.
